Mike,
Yep, It's the new light. Now if only I could learn to take pictures of the tank. I did try photoshop but obviously got them too small. Oh well, maybe more tomorrow.
I wrote a review of the light in the Giesemann Forum if you want to take a look.
Thanks again for a great day at The Aquarium Gallery yesterday.

The pictures look good. Try a picture with out the flash on.
The noise is not normal in the light. See the last post on this
thread. I would give the store a call and see about replacement.

Mike,
Thanks for the link. I'll give Brandon a call Monday. I figure I just need to hold the phone up to the light. It's either the bulb itself or the little 230v transformer inside the housing. I suspect it's the bulb because the little transformer doesn't vibrate at all (I can touch its outside through a vent in the housing).
I tried a couple of shots w/o the flash but they were too dark. Of course I could have lightened them in Photo Shop. Once I have lowered the light I'll try again.

Hi Steve.
I've had a Nova II for 4 years, and it's totally silent. Magnetic ballast though. I think they have an electronic ballast now.
Tank looks great!

Ewan,
Thanks on the tank comments. I plan to call the dealer tomorrow and get a replacement. I don't expect there will be any problem. Next i need to get a little better with the camera.
I hope we'll see you next Sunday at the meeting.

Any news on the light. Do you want me to bring a
150 watt spare bulb?
I have 3-4 extras I used less than 4 months.

Mike,
I should be OK, but thanks for the offer of the bulbs. I spoke with Brandon Tuesday and he said it was the start-up ignitor. He offered to replace the light with a new one but doesn't want to ship it as he's worried about breakage. I may go down again tomorrow afternoon depending on weather. On the other hand he may just ship me the ignitor. Giesemann has tight controls on who digs around in their lights and he isn't too comfortable in having me do the replacement (7-screws and 1-nut). Oh well, let me know if you're up for another trip.
Steve
P.S. The amount of coral growth is surprising me with the added light.
