I have a 2006 12 Gallon with the 3.24 mod. I can answer some questions about that one....what is the NVM?

Hi - I have the 2006 DX. Just set it up a couple of days ago. My only mods are getting rid of the bio-balls and other stuff they supply, putting in rubble rock in the chambers and changing out the Rio pump with a Mini Jet 606.

I ordered 9 lbs. of live sand from Premium Aquatics and 15 lbs. of their nano live rock. The rock is mostly Marshall Island and is very porous and light. I like a fairly open reef so I only used about 8-9 lbs. of it. If you are planning to do a wall 15 lbs. would be fine but I now have a 10 gal. holding tank with a bunch of rock which will eventually be used in my "next" tank - at least it gives me an excuse to get another one. :D

Hi Mustang - That's the same set-up I have and the same price. I didn't even look at the ph because I just assumed it was a Rio and had already bought the Minijet 606. I have the other ph circulating the water in my spare lr tank.

I'm very happy so far with the DX - mine was "born" in November, 2005. I just order a Hydor-flow to replace the output on the return. There is nice current and it goes all around the tank but I think the Hydorflow will move it around even more.

I cut out the vinyl over the center chamber in the back and I am going to put Cheato in there and the rubble is going in the #1 chamber with the heater (it's a tiny titanium one).

NVM - gotcha - the moonlight is cool looking even with just lr in the tank.

Oh, BTW, 6 Nassarius snails came in with my lr/live sand/bottom crud from Premium so I guess that's one purchase I won't have to make:cool:
