View Full Version : 70watt hqi k2 viper or 150watt hqi coralife pedant???

i have a 16 gal acrylic nano 16w x16d x @ 20 h with a rena xp1 no powerhead, and im thinking either the k2 viper hqi or the coralife?? which would you all recommend for a ok reef system not too over the top???, and how far up from tank???

I had ordered the Coralife Advanced clip-on 150w, it was backordered (thank god) and right before they got it in stock, the news of the K-2 came out and I cancelled my other order and pre-ordered that. I'd say that if you can stand waiting until the end of Feb to get your light, definitely get the 150w JBJ K-2

definantly 150 watt coralife all the way!!!!!! I have one and i love it it looks so good with a 15k bulb in their so that my opinion!!

Since the Viper is a new product and hasn't been released afaik there's really no way to know if it's a good and reliable product. New products often have bugs that need to be worked out. ( If a distributor would like to provide one I'd be happy to test it ;) )

The coralife so far has a good reputation although you have to modify the mounting bracket to make it fit over a Nano (it was actually designed to be used on larger tanks. It also costs more.


So you're between price and (potential) reliability problems.
