I have had a Refuge set up under my tank for about 2 months. I have good lighting and some flow. The Chaetomorpha took off and grew like crazy. Over the past 2 weeks it has started to look brown and it now looks dead. The glass has a red slime all over it.
All fish and coral seem fine and I have no unwanted alage in the tank. What is going on?
Any help would be great.
Thanks Dave

Have you ever harvested or thinned it out?

Sounds like it's gotten so big its blocking flow and light and in turn has no more room to grow.

Happended to me too. Take most of it out or at least 1/2 and trade it at your LFS.

I bet things improve after.

No I never have thinned it out. there is still room in the tank for it to grow. The mass of it is in the middle and very thick or dense.
over the top of the mass was alot of slime, I skimmed it out and also took out the dead cheato. Ill see what happens.

What about the red slime?
Thanks Dave
