What do sea cucumbers eat?

Hi,
I have just been wondering what the heck is my sea cucumber eating in the sand? Is it eating fish waste or algae? Or does he just need the extra fiber ;).

They eat pretty much everything in the sand but not the sand. It passes through their body and comes out clean.
