I just put a new fixture over my 2.5 - a Current Dual Satellite 2x18W PC. This is replacing the 2x13W custom hood that had a fan in it. The Current fixture didn't come with fans installed but has the circular openings on either end with screw holes on one side to mount a fan. My temp is going from around 78/80 at lights on to about 84 at the end of the day.

Having never had to deal with installing a fan, and having minimal wiring skills, some help is needed. First, where to buy a fan. Radio Shack - computer fan? Will that work?

Hey Sugar! I just installed 2 fans in my setup, I don't have any pics yet but it was cake! I hit up a used computer shop for some used computer fans, got 2 90mm fans for 5 bucks each, then ran to Radio Shack for a 12V DC Converter. Wired them together and pluged the fans into my timer for my lights. Now when the lights turn on the fans turn on. :)

Shoot Eric, you make it sounds so simple and I know darn well it's not. :D

I was looking for 120mm but they didn't have any used. I put in 2 90mm's and WOW! The tank drop instantly, I'm starting to wonder why I bought a chiller! :) J.K. I'm sure I'll be using the chiller in the summer months. Let me know if you have any other questions or specific questions about wiring them. I though it was scary at first, but once I had them in my hand it was super easy! Took about 5 minutes total.

it is that easy sugar. i got a couple of 80mm fans of ebay...$0.99 ea. and an adjustable DC converter at radio shack ( adjustable between 3v-12v which is nice, allows you to adjust the speed of the fans.). red to red, black to black...it's really that simple.
