Howdy folks, just noticed your program for the first time tonight.

Here is the reef I built in my 7th grade biology classroom 2 1/2 years ago with a generous grant from Toshiba America Foundation. It is located in Ridgefield, CT; I have been the department leader and biology teacher (1 of 3 Bio teachers; 10 science staff total) for 7 years.

It is a 120 gallon AGA barebottom, 40 breeder sump, 2x250 DE MH Aqualine Buske 10K + 2/110 VHO ultra actinic, AquaC EV 180 with MAG 9.5, GEO 612 Calcium Reactor with Pinpoint pH Controller, Phosban, Carbon, Tropic Marin salt, 3 SEIO Superflow 1500's, 6 maxijet 1200's, MAG 18 return.

welcome to reefnest and thanks for sharing
that is awesome that you have clowns spawning, that is one of the things we have been waiting for at our systems.
nice tank btw, i am sure the kids learn a lot from that tank

The tank is an amazing learning center for my students. Everything about the reef and its inhabitants are fascinating to them.

I am about to start attempting to rear the clown fry, phyto, rotifer, nursery tank, etc. I will provide updates as they come...

PITSTOP : If you decide to attempt raising the babies we might be able to help you with a collection container that you can borrow. Clarkii larvae are harder that false or true but it will be worth the try. We have something that yon hang on the tank and when you turn the lights off larvae hatch and it draws them in side it. First you have to be ready for Rotifers, instant algae etc. Good luck.

Here is the site and this way this thread is not pushed back and there is always a way to find it and bring others who visit our website to it too. I would like to add a link to Toshiba which was nice of them to do that to the site but did not know which site.

I am reading up on preparing rotifers/phyto, they will be ready in advance.

I have Joyce Wilkerson's book.

My plan is to place a tile in the main display, try to get the clowns to spawn on the tile, then place the tile in the nursery tank I prepared.

I used to do the tile trick too but if they don't hatch the night they are suppose to then you have another extra day to have them in nursery and I liked when getting them out the same day they hatch and let the parents take care of cleaning eggs. That book is really great and when you get into it you will learn few tips here and there too.
You can use tile, clay flower pot, clay dish that you put under flower pot. We will be interested to see the process too. As for phyto we found out that instant algae is the way to go and it saves you alot of headache too.
