Does anyone know if either the 2.5 or the 5.5 AGA tanks have tempered glass on the bottom?

Thanks

They are not tempered. They use the same thin glass for making the 2.5, 5.5 and the 10gal. tank's. And they use that thin glass because the tank's are not more than 12 inches tall.

I want to put a little tank in my office. Maybe a 2.5 or 5.5.

I have an empty 10 but I don't have lights for it.

Carl,
What are thinking of keeping in it. I have a spare (used) 10g wood canopy painted Gloss Black. It will fit 2 or 3 28-40w lamps or a 96w quad, but not the 96w lamp (http://www.innovativelights.com/ils-10000-quad.html) from Innovative Lighting. That is why I replaced it.
And some spare Ballasts:
2x28w ballast with end caps
(1)32/40w ballast
All Square pin
and Misc used 28-40w lamps

let me know if you are interested.

IMO the all glass company needs to do a lot better job applying silicone. You will have to look at a lot of there tanks, before you find one good enough to use in your office.
