I am new to the world of saltwater and I have recently purchased a 24g nano tank. What are some good starter corals, fish, anemone...actually...what all would you tell a firstimer to put in?
Thank you for your unbiast opinion.

JASON:)

[welcome]

With the stock lighting on the jgj's I wouldn't get an anemone but you can keep soft corals and some lps and ect. How old it the tank?

A pair of clownfish would be good for fish for the tank but we need to know how old the tak is before you can add fish or corals.

First off, might want to re-think the 24 gallon. I'm not sure if they solved their cracking problems yet. They are know for cracking many months down the line or even exploding.

Secondly, if they have solved the problem you got a pretty cool tank there and you can do many things with it.

DO NOT GET AN ANEMONE!!!!!!! Not enough light in those tanks and they need a mature tank. Most reefers don't introduce one until after a year.

I wouldn't put more than 3 fish in there. People will tell you "oh I have 5 in a 10 gallon". You have to take into account how big they will get and the bio-load in your system. You need to read waterkeeper thread entitled "so you got a fish tank newbie". Everything you need to know will be in there.

To start you off you need to cycle LR for about a month or so, introduce a cleaner crew and then I would start with mushrooms, zoanthids, easy LPS (frogspawn, hammer, candy canes) maybe a goby, false perc, firefish.

Do your research and you will do just fine.

I've kept a (healthy) hot pink BTA in my Nano DX (no added lights) for quite some time. It's healthy and growing. I feed it regularly, too.
I seeded my Nano with aged rock, rubble rock (for the back) and sand from my larger tank.

What is quite some time??? I haven't personally seen anyone be able to keep one alive under that lighting for more 6-12 months. Feeding helps but they need stronger light than 72 watts PC.

It is brand new and just done cycling.
