My current submersable heater just died I believe. My tank temp is 3 degrees lower than normal. I want to upgrade to a Won titanium pro heater, but I've read that they aren't supposed to be used horizontally? Is this true? Any experience to the contrary?

Also, I have about 45 gallons of water in my system. Would a 100W or 200W be more appropriate. The temp differential from my room to the tank is about 8-10 degrees.

Thanks,
Dan

I've spoken with Won about this and the instructions are wrong.
They work any way.
Horizonatally, vertically, diagonally.

All the same.

I have had both of mine just laying in the sump horizontally for 2 months now, both are working fine

Usual advice is three watts per gallon for heaters. Being that you're in a cold climate I'd suggest the 200 w and go a bit over the minimum.
