I'm setting up an AGA 15 and I'm contemplating using black sand with a black background. Does anyone use black sand, and do you like it?

i used it in my 10 at the beginning. it was so fine and course, and i hated it.

i couldn't keep it nice and black looking - it always looked dirty, and it really seemed to take away from the lighting - finally i sucked it all out.

Hi,

I am currently using blank sand in my 24 gallon nano cube. I think it looks nice. The kind I am using is the Tahitian Moon sand, which is extremely fine-grained. Detritus is extremely visible on the black sand, so I just siphon a thin layer of sand when I do water changes to get the detritus.
It's going to be difficult to keep the sand totally black, but if you don't mind a peppery look go with the black sand.

I always thought it would look dirty. Just Like black paint on a car, very high maintanance if you want to keep it up.

Thanks for the replies. Although I'd love to have black sand, I'm probably too lazy to keep it. I'm going to get the Fiji Pink sand. Now, what color background? Blue or Black.
