20% every week in our 12g nanocube. Are you running a protein skimmer?

I have a 15g and no skimmer. I ussually do a water change every week, about 25%. Some times I may do two 15% water changes. It's what you feel comfortable with. But one change a week minimum.

I wouldn't say there is a set % and X times a week.

All my tanks in the past never had a skimmer, sump, or fuge... and got real lazzy about water changes. My closest tank that I used to have would of been my 12 gallon. I did like 2 gallons every 2-3 weeks... but sometimes didn't do one for atleast a month.

With that said, it all depends on what you want to do. Some tanks can look healthy without water changes for a few weeks (like mine did). SOme could go a month and still look fine. Othes do not look good after a 2 weeks. It just all depends on how your tank is.

IMO, to be safe.... I would do like 2-3 gallons every week or so. Don't flame yourself if you forget.... but don't get in the habbit and then complain when your tank looks like crap. You just have to mess around and experiment with it see how far you are willing to risk, and how much your tank can handle.

I would recommend 3 gallons per week on a tank that size specially if not suplementing. Of course I am also assuming there is no skimmer in that little guy.
