If some snails are hermaphroditic, are there any snails that need a mate?

turbo, margarita, cerith, nassarius and Super Nassarius, banded trochus, bumble bee, nerite, and red foot moon snails are all male and female snails, good luck trying to tell them apart!

It's my understanding that even hermaphroditic species require mates. For example, the earthworm is a hermaphrodite - having one half male and one half female. In order for it to reproduce it requires a mate, positioning itself parallel - but opposite ended, from the partner. I think the snails you're thinking of are A-sexual meaning each individual is equipped with the right tools to carry out the job independently. As psy_chick states above, there are many different kinds that do require mates and are not A-sexual.

Two snail meet and you have new snails on the way.
My nassarius went from 20 to over 100 in about 4 months.
