Hey,

My zenia seems to have melted. I had it for five months. It started breaking off. Now it just looks like melted gum on the rocks. I have never had any bad params. My nitrates were at 10 a month a half ago. Some water changes cleared that up. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Trea

Seems to be like that sometimes, it either is a weed or feed. Just a weird coral sometimes :-p other than that not to sure.

Xenia is known to just melt away for no reason.

Are there any fish in there that might pick on it? We have a Blue tang that developed a taste for xenia and after it ate my cespitullaria she has been disowned by me and will find a new home soon. Some Xenia are not to tolerant of high temps either, phosphates can cause problems as well. Good aquacultured Xenia usually have no problem adjusting to most tank conditions though.

Iread somewhere that xenia can benefit from phosphates (helps it grow) and is like macro algae in the way that when you trim it, it removes it from the tank.

xenia is very hardy. Sometime I was trying to kill them by any mean, because they grow and spead so much onto many rocks, but they are still survive. I hope you'd be able to get them back...good luck.....integra

Low sg also negatively affects xenia.
