Why does my clownfish stay in the same spot most of the day? I rarely see him leave it. Always the same spot, facing the same direction.

what kind of clown is it? what spot--on a coral? did you just put it in the tank?

It's a Ocellaris Clownfish. No corals, my tank is FOWLR because of lighting issues. He's been in the tank for about 2 weeks. Only other tankmates are cleaning crew and blenny. The spot he sits in seems to be where the return from the sump goes. My return is in the back left and shoots accross to the right, then hits the side and swirls down and back to the left. He sits right where it swirls and goes to the left, and seems to swim against the flow. I figured at first he was getting some excersize, but he never seems to stop lol.

Clowns often like to establish a "spot", even if they aren't hosting something. As long as it is eating, it is probably ok.

The back right corner of my tank is owned by my clown and he'll bite me if I put my hand in that area.

Is it a tank-raised clown? They tend to not swim around as much as wild-caught ones.

my little tank raised started by hanging out in front of my seio 820 but after a few days he was all over my six foot tank.

I just put my pair in my tank on Saturday and seem to wander allover once in awhile but usally stay to one side. We well see what happens over the next few weeks.
