Just thought I would post a couple of shots of the 500

This shot shows what a bad ballast does. The left side of the tank is a nice crisp blue/white color. The right side is a dingy yellow green color. The PFO ballast running that side was bad out of the box, we are waiting for the replacement.

Hey Kyle, which ballast is better Blueline or PFO? I'm only concern with the noise factor.

I do not reccomend the blue line at all, they produce a huge amount of static or noise on the electrical system preventing use of x-10's. Plus we had one short almost catching the tank on fire. The PFO's we are running now are running cool enough to touch.

That tank is coming along nicely Kyle!! I need to go see it in person.

Now you got me worried about the PFO ballasts I have sitting in boxes. :( I should probably plug them in to test.

Later,

Don

We have not been very happy with the blue line's We had two out of four go bad and one almost caused a fire. Champion has exclusive rights to sell the Blueline's ballast.

I am supprised at your trouble with the bluelines. I have 4 on my 500 and have had no problems with them. They are very cool to the touch.

Where did the fire start? At the connectors or did the ballast have a meltdown?

Let me know. I don't want my house going up in a blaze of glory.

The actual ballast started oozing black goo. Incidently we replaced them with 2 dual pfo's and they run cooler than blue line's did.

How long did you have them in operation before they started doing this?

4 months or so. only one did it before we yanked them all.
