This cap. is growing on my overflow. It is a 6" x 6" overflow. If you look close, you can see a little bump kind of right in the middle of it. This is the putty that was used to mount the original frag. It's grown quite a bit! I occasionally have to file down the coral's edges to keep the overflow slots clear. Dosent phase it!

Here's an encrusting/plating montipora species. It's an older pic and the coral is about 3-4 inches in diameter now:

Here it is when I first got it:

Here's my "mama" colony right before removing it for trade (and right after I broke the small 3rd tier out of the middle in order to start a new mama colony lol)
This was the second time I've "started over" due to space constraints since recieving a frag from ByTor 1.5 years ago...

This is actually the daughter of a wild colony that grew to nearly TWO FEET across. I have since sold this colony and am now raising the grandaughter. :)

I used to think all the people going to such great lengths to keep sps were nuts, but then I saw a beautyful plating montipora at the lfs, and now can't wait till i have a tank with the right stuff to keep one. this thread is sooooo sexy
