What are the chances of having a hitchhiker clam? I spotted something up in a crevis in a large rock that looks like a small clam. It looks like it has a small shell, is red inside and appears to have some sort of eye lash things sticking out. It is very hard to see it, let along get a pic. I may try later to get a picture.

Chances are good. Probably a flame scallop.

That looks like it could be it. Some time ago I did see another small empty shell that came out of my rocks when I was basting but did not give it much though. What are its chances for survival?

Needs high calcium and are difficult to keep.

I have a small volunteer clam that came in on a pavona, it's almost impossible to see unless it's closing rapidly. Also, I have many small red worms that look like tiny (.5 cm) flame scallops while feeding.
