I purchased a few damsels as fillers before i got REAL fish and i was curious to techincs to catching damsels w/o removing all my live rock.

try using two small nets and trapping in the corners thats what i did but more then likly you might have to move a rock or two

Just light, toss, cover, and then scoop them up as they float to the surface. It can be hell on the tank seals though. :D

Seriously though, I have had some luck using a piece of Plexyglass cut to fit very tightly inside the tank. Use that to reduce the area of the tank that they are in making it easier to catch the buggers. Just make sure it fits VERY tightly or they will slip past the edge. You may end up having to remove some rock but at least this way it isn't all the rock.

Net feeding sometimes works. Put your food in the net and drop it on a secure spot. After a couple days the fish should all be eating in the net. Of course it didn't work for me, but I could have caught every fish except the damsel. I ended up pulling all the rock. :(

Try a #12 hook with a little meat, a beer, recliner and wait! I like Thurge's idea the best. Or you can try a plastic box and trap them in there. I have also seen fish traps out there. Like the fire worm traps same brand. Don't feed them.

catching damsels is super easy just get a glass cup place some food on and wait.Will be hart for him to get in, but harter to get out. When he get in place u hand on top and u got it.

Barbless hook and line............if you are quick they dont even know what has happened.

The hard bit is getting the brineshrimp on a 22 hook. :D
