I jsut bought a 72 gallon reef tank thank has been setup for the past five years. I got it home and I started to clean the tank and all, but I was wondering if any of you had a good way to clean all the smaller pieces, such as powerheads and the overflow box? Those or the two biggest but there are other small pieces that need to be cleaned. I was wondering if there was any solutions I could dip the parts into and that would soften it up. What I am scraping off is very hard and almost crystalized. Any and all help with cleaned is appreciated! Thanks again!

White vinegar and water mix will break-up everything. Try to do about a 50/50 mix. If you use less vinegar just let it sit overnight.

Just rinse with water when its done.
