wait until night time, the tentacles should extend. target feed small pieces of shrimp/squid/mysis...any sort of meaty food.

That being said, my experienes with blastos suck :( They'll do well for a few months, then suddenly all melt away

crap i hope they dont melt away that would really suck since they cost so damn much

i just got them like 2 days ago so i havent really seen them extend feeding tentacles.... ill check it out tonight to see if they do

what causes them to melt away?!

they just kinda look more deflated than i remember when getting them

maybe they are acclimating to the newer lighting??

i know my lighting is much more powerful than what they were keeping them at the LFS ive got them all the way at the bottom but maybe its still stressing them

for the first week try keeping it in low light and low flow area. Blasto are from what I know low light coral anyway so keep it low in the tank if you have strong lights.

I really have no idea why the 2 colonies I dropped $$$ for melted. Everything else in the tank is thriving and growing when it happened. I started them low since I run 400W MH. So they lived at the bottom of the 2' deep tank for a few weeks, then I slowly moved them up the rockwork so they can get a bit more current as I never saw them extend much. Overnight...melted away, nothing but white skeleton when I saw them next morning. I figured once was a fluke, so I tried again...and no more expensive blastos for me...

Forget about low light. You better put it under a shaded spot in the tank. They don't like direct light. Especially anything over 175w MH. I'm not saying you can't keep them in high light, but if your going too, start them off real slow.

Feed them anytime, I feed all my corals in daytime (well, their day time, my nighttime when their lights are on :D ), they'll eat happily.

For the best results, turn all the currents off, squirt shrimp juices around the corals, give it a few minutes, and all the tenticles will come out. That's how I train them. :D

I have 384 watts PC in 46 gallons, and they are placed in the middle of the tank, seems doing fine, at least for now.

However, mine originally came from MH light tank, although they were placed on the very bottom semi-shaded frag tank, so perhaps they are used to much higher light already.

yeah these were in a big tank only under some t-5's with only actinic supplementation

now they are under 700W in my 100 gallon tank 500 of it 20K MH the other 200 is 10K PC

i moved them to the edge of the tank hoping it shades enough over there...

I have my blasto under a ledge so they are pretty well shaded, only getting indirect light, they seem to be doing great, lots of baby blasto forming around the edges.
