i finally can stop lugging around containers of water from my lfs, i just installed a ro/di system, it took less than an hour to do(i dont know why i waited so long to do this) so where is the cheapest place to buy buckets of salt local or internet ?, unsure of which brand i'll be using so any info on this will also be appreciated.

thanks, eddie.

Shipping salt is not the cheapest way to buy salt. Decide what brand you want vs the brand you can get local then start price shopping. Petco/Petsmart will sometimes match their online prices.
I use Oceanic and it's priced ok in 200g buckets. Don't expect to get the yield stated by the manufacturer though since they base it on less than NSW SG.

I personally like Ocean Pure and have had great success with it. I believe it is distributed somewhere in the west valley so it makes this salt cheaper to get locally.

Just bring in this (http://www.petsmart.com/global/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441776788&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302030148&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302023693&bmUID=1132856685416) print out to petsmart, grab the 150 gallon bucket and they will price match it at the register. If you want oceanic (http://www.petsmart.com/global/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441808411&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302030148&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302023693&bmUID=1132856685416) then print that out. Dr Foster and Smith have reduced thier shipping costs to $8.99 for a 200 gallon bucket of oceanic if you do not want to go to the store. I believe they have instant ocean as well. Delivered to your door for 9 bucks isn't bad.

Cheers,

$9.00 for shipping is almost worth not having to lug the bucket home. If you have to drive any distance it would save you money.

They dropped weight fees but also raised some of the prices. You might want to consider the oceanic 200 gallon bucket for $39.99

Also, even if you add 2 more buckets with a total of 3, the shipping only goes to 10.99. Well worth not having to lug them around.

petsmart...they'll match their own online price which is the lowest i've seen.

I did not know petsmart matched their online price... For the past 3 years I've been paying $15 for a 50 gallon bag... I know where I'm going tomorrow

Nevermind, I was looking at the shipping surcharges which I thought was the price :p

Still not a bad price though.
