I've finished my 4x250 to 4x400w upgrade. To my eye, it's LOTS brighter, but to my wife's it's not noticeably different. ? Thankfully it only cost the standard "$5 bucks" so it's ok if she doesn't see the difference.
Now I'm running a dual 400w sunlight supply with pulse start (M135) on the center 2 pendants, and two Ice Cap 400w eballasts on the outside. With 4xReeflux 10k bulbs. Looking at the bulbs when lit, the eballasts are 30% brighter than the magnetic ballast. Looking at the tank it's about 10%. Unfortunately, I'd prefer the center to be brighter so I have to switch the pendants around. SOB... it never ends...
