IMO I dont really think any major harm can be done by a lion, what size was it? I would say soak your finger in warm water then maybe take an asprin or advil if it hurts. If it still is numb tomorrow maybe go to the doctor. HTH Mike

Depends on the strength of the toxin.
Often, repeated immersion in extremely hot water will neutralize it, but to be on the safe side, I would go to the hospital.

The venom is destroyed by heat. Treatment is to immediately soak the affected area (usually a hand) in water as hot as the victim can tolerate without causing burns. The wounded area must be kept in hot water for 30-60 minutes. Call the Poison Center for more information.

I'd do the hot water thing. I wouldn't do the hospital so soon. Maybe have someone stay with you for a while and just monitor how you're doing. If things go south, then he/she can take you in. Don't panic though

I wouldn't worry unless you're the kind of person that gets alergic reactions to bee stings. Otherwise, I would do the hot water thing. Well you should do that regardless. Let us know how it turns out.

I'm thinkin I read that Vinegar helps??? Not sure?

I also think that you will have to amputate the finger because of the massive nerve damage that will happen.......

JUST KIDDING!!! :D

I 've heard that drinking your own urine will neutralize the toxin.

Please try and let me know.

watch out for anything suggesting an allergic reaction such as lips swelling, difficulty breathing, hives etc and if that occurs go to the ER. Taking a benadryl cant hurt either.

Thanks for the concern guys. After the stung I continue to take down the tank and was too torn to go back on line. I'm still alive and kicking and baking a turkey today.

But I gotta admit, that was one fugged up feeling not being able to feel your finger from a tiny little sting. Cheers and happy thanks giving everyone

I've been stung by a very large 14" volation lion. It hurts like (you know what). But i did the hot water for as long as i could stand it. Bout 50 minutes. My hand and arm turned red from the heat but it did neutralize the protien toxin. I did call the poison control center and thats what they advised me to do. Don't go to the hospital unless your having an allergic reaction, all you'll do is sit there waiting for hot water while your hand goes through pain and then your wallet when you get the bill for them to give you water and advil. Sorry been a nurse almost 20 years. Thats the best we do there :(
