Claning the Sump?

Question. My 110 gal reef has been up and running for alomost 3 yrs. I have a 14 gallon sump. I was adjusting my new Aqua c ev-180 whan i noticed the botom of the sump in the media side has like a bron fur on the bottom with all these litlle white had worm like deposits. I also saw 2 red looking creatures swiming around. Is this normal or should I clean this stuff out. I have never cleaned my sump before. ???

i think you can just leave it, i've had mine up for years and never cleaned it out.
