There are a number of wavemaker's available. One is a RedSea wavemaster pro, and I can't remember the other names. They are basicly timers that turn off and on in random patterns with some user choices for patterns. There is a diy thread on how to alter a regular timer to be a wavemaker over in the diy forum.

I had those hydors and I hated them. Someone local on the board bought them and I didn't see him put them on the market so he must like them. I had them on mj1200's and it stopped every single day with the blast aimed right at something I didn't want it to. Even while turning it was like taking your thumb to the end of a hose. That's the problem with mj's already is that it is too concentrated and those make it worse. I would have lived with it but the stopping stunk! I've never heard anyone else complain of that so maybe there was a little burr or something on mine that needed to get slimed over or ?? They are cheap though.
That's when I went for the seio's and I'm going to use a scwd on my main return. There are alot more expensive options out there than the way I'm going with it.
I saw a thread talking about wavemaking and alot of the big experts on here disagreed that you should do that. I'm sure other experts think you should though. Makes your head spin. :D
Refuges do well with waves to keep the cheato tumbling if you set them up right.
