Carbon group buy, I know I said I would never do it again!

I have been asked by a couple of people that didn't get in the last group buy that I did, if I could get another together soon. Well, I told myself that I wasn't going to do it again, but I need some for myself also. Last time everyone agreed that the 1mm was the best way to go, but I heard from a few people that they loved the carbon but only wished that it came in a granular form instead of pelletized. So I talked to the supplier and he stated that the granular is actually more, but would give it to me at the same cost as last time as long as we ordered a minimum of a pallet(20 bags). Each sac is 55#.
The price is going to be 56.00 which includes tax and 3% charge for Paypal. Last time I had set up with Eric from www.fragfarmer.com another option which was to pay for your purchase through his website with a credit card, which also had to include their 3% fees too.
I haven't asked him yet, so for right now until I hear back from him it is Paypal or cash delivered to me before the cutoff. And the cutoff for this group buy will be the Nov 26th at midnight, the money needs to be either in my paypal account or in hand at this time.
I am sorry if I sound harsh but everyone that was invoved with the last one said the they couldn't believe how smoothly and how fast the group buy went and if any of them want to chime in and give their opinion of the carbon feel free to.
I am also going to be attending Dave B.'s fragswap, so if anyyone that joins in and wants to pick theirs up from me at his house would be fine. Otherwise I live in Downey at the 5 and 605 fwy, and if Eric joins in then it also could be picked up from his store in montclair off of the 10fwy.

This is an incredible amount of carbon for the price. I still got 3 salt buckets full of carbon....at the rate I'm using it, the carbon should last me until the next decade!!! :eek2:

I'd be interested but can I get the pelletized or does the whole pallet have to be in granular? I know granular is better but not much rinsing with pelletized and it's bigger so it won't escape my carbon reactor as easily. Is the granular similar sized?

I have about 34 bags accounted for so far, so we are close to 2 pallets which is all my truck can hold. So I might have to cut it off early if I reach the 40 before Saturday. So whoever hasn't paid yet but said that they wanted one please decide and make the payment or I will have to take someone else who has paid. Also please indicate what type you prefer pelletized or granual and allso if you want to pick up at my house or Erics shop or you are going to Dave House.
I will try to post tonight a list of who has shown interest and who has paid so far and wether or not they want pelletized or granuals. If I have any incorrect info please let me know so I can fix.

I am here at work right now but some that bought it last time compared the pelletized to either a grain of rice or mouse CRAP!!!
Just because of the elongated shape. The granular is the raw shape that the coal based carbon comes in. The diameter is the same in both 1mm just one is going to be longer and the other are irregular natural shapes.

I just got back with the carbon, there was a total of 47 bags. It all didn't even fit in the truck, I had to put five in the cab with me.
I want to thank John37 for helping me unload it on to the pallets and everyone that got in the group buy. I will be loading up whoever is going to be picking up their carbon from Smart A** Erics shop(fragfarmer). So you can all flood his emails with questions regarding time and schedule to pick up, or anything else on your mind he is really bored sitting there gazing at his thousands of dollars of livestock!!! Brent, Silly Eric, who can't chew gum and run a reef shop at the same time didn't think to give Roland my bag while he was there and on his way to my house.

I tell ya, he's friggin lost if Robert isn't there to help him out.

I told him I'd let me oldest daughter (22) help him out for a while. I think she can tell the diff between a 20 dollar bill and a 5 dollar bill .........well, maybe not but she's been around reef tanks for 20+ years.

I doubt anyone could run a store and online business by themself, so yeah I do need Robert there. But I am also looking to add another employee. So if any of you know of someone who is willing to work for minimum wage and learn the business, then have them get in contact with me. BTW, I need someone who works in the shop on the tanks not so much the cash register.

Come on, Eric is getting walking down the aisle today, give the guy a break!! He has alot on his mind and his plate. Before Robert he ran his business by himself, the business and shop is taking off and he is just trying to keep up. Keep up the good work Eric and don't trip while walking down the aisle. And don't make the mistake by forgetting everyone including your parents are watchng you when you kiss your wife. I think I had way to much tongue action going on!!!!

I got my bag from Eric's but the bag snagged on something in the car and now I have to find something big enough to hold it all. With the hole though, I got to see the carbon. Good stuff!

Get cheap white plastic buckets from Lowes. They will help protect the carbon, and those bags are messy and unwieldy anyway.

Keep us posted on the salt tests. It might make a good article for RK, too. I've been thinking of switching to SeaChem salt.

BTW, I guess I ordered the wrong stuff because its about the size of pencil lead, I though it would be more like rabbit pellets then pencil lead....My mistake.

The small stuff is supposed to be better, more surface area for junk to stick to.. Just get some small mesh bags to hold it.

Works great for me! I love the stuff...

A little OT, what do all you guys think of the seachem salt? I am just finishing up a bag of the oceanpure, but robert recomended the seachem so I bought a box...

Oceanpure seems ok.. kinda like instant ocean... havent seen difference.
