I am wiring my new actuated ball valve. The instructions say to apply power to terminals #1 and #2 to cycle clockwise and apply power to terminals #1 and #3 to cycle counter-clockwise. I cut 2 extension cords and wired the valve like the diagram below. This works fine, but am I going to burn my house down? Thanks

should work ok as long as term. #1 is the neutral and you can't have power on both plugs at the same time.

How do I know if #1 is the neutral? Power will alternate between the 2 plugs.

Are your extension cords polerized? The large blade should be your neutral.
