I have a red monti cap I added about 2.5 months ago. Is shows no growth at all. My others, digita, green milli, all are growing fine. I keep my alk at about 3.5 to 4 mpl. and calc at a good 400 to 450, depending onbiweekly water changes.
29 gal
250w 14k phoenix de
ER 5-2 skimmer. Just added, had a urchin before.
No3 10ppm
800 gal/hr waterflow
Ammonia, nitrite zero.
Just a very little phosphate. would have to go look at the chart to see the reading, but it was very low.
temp 79.

Added cheato to the sump to get the no3 down, it was at 0 but for some reason its back up to 10ppm.

Anyway all else is growing like mad, but the monti has no white edge around the rim and just doesn't look like anything is happening.

can I see what you are calling a Monti cap witha photo? - some of these foliose Montipora all called Montipora capricornis do not like a lot of light - mainly because they are not all the same species and can inhabit very diverse areas.
