I am looking at upgrading my light system right now I just have the standard Light strip that came with my tank.

The tank will be a reef tank with 8 or so fish but mostly Corals and Live Rock?

Any suggestions on not only the Lights but the KIT to use in order to handle the Lights.

VHO retro or hood, t5s, metal halide. it depends on what you want to keep.

They have a great price on 60" T5 retrokits, I assume you have the canopy to mount the lights in. Either 4x80watt T5s or 6x80watt T5s would be great depending on what you want to keep and your budget. Remember you can always get the 4 and upgrade another 2 if you feel that you need too.

If you dont have a canopy, your gonna have to live with a 48" fixture, as I dont belive anyone makes a 60" canopy.

60" is a hard length to light!

You could go with two haning MH pendants, that would be another option.

Personaly I would try and get a canopy made if you dont already, IMO makes the tank look much more clean, and opens up options like have MHs and T5 supplement.

Check out this site. They have a great set up for all types of lighting needs. And one of the advantages to their lights is that it can be placed directly on top of the tank. No need to hang the fixture. The fixture can also be put inside a canopy. I have one of their 48" fixtures and I'm very happy with it. Tom over there is very helpful and quite knowledgable also. Good luck.

I'd be careful about e-bay, a lot of junk sold on there.
