Hello All,

I'm down to choosing a MH lamp for my retrofit. I decided to go w/ an IceCap 175W and a PFO spider reflector in a 29g tank that will hold lps, rics, sps, and maybe a clam.

Here are my options:

1: 10000K 175W Ushio
2: 10000K 175W Hamilton
3: 12000K 175W Sunburst

I hear the Ushios can be a little on the yellow side but still manage to get fairly good reviews from fellow reefers. The Hamiltons reviews say they are a bit no the whiter side compared to Ushios. Both would probably still need actinics for aesthetics.

The Sunburst is up there because I like the idea of getting rid of the need for actinics since it's a little on the bluer side although the PAR might be a little lower than the 10000Ks.

What do you all think? I'm also open to upping the wattage to 250 but it just seems a bit much for a 29g tank.

I use South Pacific Sunlight at 14,000Ks for my 175s. JD

Great Jimbo. Any suggestions on Ushios, Hamiltons, and XM in the 10,000K model Also the Sunburst 12000K. 250W or 175W.

Did you consider the Aqualine Bushke 10K? They are said to burn more in the 13K range with good PAR. Very high quality german bulbs. I would vote for the Ushio of the ones you are looking at currently.
