I have an ETSS 500 downdraft skimmer and I'm using a Mag 9.5 to run it. It's not doing all it can do, and instead of buying a new Pressure rated pump, I was thinking maybe trying to add a beckett injector before the skimmer input????
I'm not getting enough foam out of it and I have to have the water level set pretty high to get it to work.......All I get is wet skimmate.
This says it works great with Mag 9.5??? (http://www.superskimmer.com/etss_evolution_500.htm)

in the ad the skimmate looks wet. i'd try the injector before spending more on the pump.

Yeah.....I noticed that. Thats exactly what I get AND my water quality looks good......I just want some dryer skimmate and I'm trying to use what I have.:)

A beckett is used to introduce air to the water stream, right?
It seems like I need more air to produce better foam....This is why I'm thinking beckett......Maybe there is a simpler way????

That skimate doesn't look wet.. See how airy the foam is?

Any beckett is going to need a much bigger pump than a Mag 9.5 to be most effective you want a pressure rated pump.

Beckett or downdraft, your skimmer will perform better with a pressure rated pump.

Yeah...I need a pressure rated, but I'm trying to get around it for now. It works ok the way it is, just have to save for a new pump I guess.
