on my 55, i'm going to have 440watts of VHO, 2 actinic and other 2 10k. Is there any way I could keep a clam?

Yup, but just go with a lower light clam. Actually, I kept a purple maxima under 440 watts of VHO for 3 years until a worm ate it :( Woke up with a nice little round hole at the base of its shell and picked clean...

what are the lower light clams cause i plan on keeping one in my new tank and have the same lights but my tank is only going to be 18 inches tall so more light will get to the bottom.

I had my crocea under vho lighting and it did very well. I placed it high in the rocks about 6" below the surface.

My 55 is also 18-19" tall, I will place high on rocks if possible, but if not then in the sand. Thanks guys

I feel Crocea's are the safest, then Derasa's. JD
