I need a quiet and low heat pumps for my return and CL.

The CL pump can be external but the return pump needs to be internal.

The pumps shouldn't be more than 1000GPH.

eheims?

I checked and their wattage ratings were about the same as my current mag pumps.

mags are loud eheims are pretty close to silent. Why are you limiting your closed loop to 1000gph? your signature indicates all quality equipment. 1000gph is not very much flow on a 60 gallon
I recommend checking out a sequence dart pump 3600gph, 160watts.

I only drilled the CL with a 1 inch bulkhead and the drain for the sump is a 1.5" bulkhead. I thought 1000GPH was plenty for a CL, gues I'm not as crazy as y'all. =P

But not quite the same. Eheim is one of the most durable & quiet pumps on the market - MAG is the opposite. Eheim = 80w, most likely an accurate figure. MAG 9.5 is 93w & will most likely draw more. Also, thanks to such "fine" (sarcasm) manufacturing tolerances more of the MAG's energy will be converted to heat.

You'll run into noise issues with most external pumps such as Iwaki, Blueline, GenX, etc. They spin at a relatively high rpm = noise. They're quiet for what they are, but given the rpm some noise will be inevitable.

Flow pumps like Sequence run much slower RPM & are generally quieter (a DART is very quiet) - though it might be a bit much flow, if there is such a thing.

I use ampmasters. They last for a long time, cannot hear them and can dial them back without any issues. They are supposedly low wattage too (never tested it).

I have a dart too, but I like the AM3600 better. It is quieter... and it is many years old.

running an ampmaster 3000 and you only hear a hum. Very little heat transfer also. I think the same can be said for the the sequence pumps as well.

What might this phrase from the porduct description mean?
"All Aqua Sea pumps are high RPM 1.5 inch pumps. They are quiet for high RPM pumps, but produce more noise than Amp Master and Super Amp Masters."

I think I'm down to an Ampmaster or a Blueline/Pan World pump for the CL. Decided to go ahad and use my Iwaki 40RLT for the sump return.

Im using a panwold it has a hum to it. The blueline is more quite. the T4 has hose barb witch sucks.

I run a mag 12 closed loop on my 60 gallon cube.. Its ok but it is a lil loud.. I also use a mag 9 for my return pump. The flow is about right for a 60 IMO

Now I've got a Sequence dart on my closed loop in my 180.. They are pretty quiet But IMHO way to much flow for a 60 gallon.. Mine blows hermits around in my 180!!!

Eheims are the shiz.

If you pick up an Ampmaster, make sure and spring for the saltwater seals. I had an AM2K and it was quiet, very quiet.

Read Dragon is the best low energy and heat pump i know

Red dragons are nice,

But if you factor the savings on power costs, it will take you roughly 3-4 years to make up for the cost of the pump. If there were a reasonably priced version then I think we would all own one.

Have any of the amp master owners out there had issues with leaks? That seems to be the common issue around here.

I am also looking for a CL pump, don't mean to hijack your thread, just hitching a ride.

Maybe, but You are living in Florida USA. There is the energy many times cheeper than in germany.

In Germany 1 KWH costs 0,17 US$ and my tank wil take round about 7000 KWH at 1 year. And the tax is now 19%

Thats :eek1:

we are up to $0.12 kwh in louisiana now.

Were somewhere around $.11, but with the recent hurricane they are talking about a potential hike of 35%. Who knows, I may have to find a new hobby. It's already costing me about $150.00 per month to run my 58!

About the pump. I'm thinking of giving the velocity T4 a try. Any thoughts?

Now does our politicians talk about to hire the KWH from 0.17 up to 0.25 $

I am setting up a Oceanic 180 RR. I am going to have 2 closed loop returns. I was shooting for about 6.44 cycles per hour. I am using 2 of those new Coralife Turbo-Sea 580's. For current I am using 2 SEIO 1500m Powerheads. IMHO they are more directional and once you put them on a wavemaker, they keep the detrus from settling too much.

Do you think that 6.44 cycles per hour is still too low?

Thanks!

Well I have two Quiet one 6000s on my system now. They are quiet and I only hear them vibrating against the stand.

BUT they emit heat! My room is constantly humid and warm compared to other areas of the house. But when the pumps go off, my room goes back to normal. So now my pumps are off since nothing's in the tank except for water.

So what pumps with preferably 1" threaded input and output are relatively cool for the tank AND the air around?

don't put seio's or tunze 6060/6080's on wavemakers.. it warns you against this in the owners manual.

heck for 1000gph, put 2 seio 620's and call it done.. and only 16 watts.

I've been running a Velocity T4 for about 3 years. It's extremely quite, you have to touch it to tell if it's running. When first installed, the temps jumped jump about 2 degrees.

I'm wanting to add more flow, and silence is key to keeping marital bliss. I've considered adding a Tunze 6000 or upgrading the T4 to a Reeflo Dart. I keep hearing the Dart is very quite, but is it as quite as the T4?
