View Full Version : my caulerpa keeps disapearing!!!!

i have a small refugium in my sump.at first the two small bunches of caulerpa i added grew at amazing rates then in the space of three four days it all disapeared!!i mean it was like it wasnt ever there!!then i added a small bunch of chaetomorpha macro algea.within a week that was gone too. i have a 18w marine blue tube lighting my sump.any ideas as to what is going on??

Dump the marine blue lamp and get you a 6000-6500k bulb. The blue spectrum isn't as good fro growth as it is for looks. The green/yellow spectrum is better for growth.

As for why it is dissappearing, I have no idea :(

thanks for the heads up guys.ill try changing the lighting.any ideas as to the photoperiod?i have heard that its best 24/7 for caulerpa to stop it releasing spores into the water?what do you guys have set up?

I run a 6500K light 24/7 on my culerpa bed. It's doing great.
