what kind of skimmer would you use on a 75 gallon

Are you going to have a sump?

IF you have a sump and of those choices, the ASM is best IMO

asm g2 seems like a good fit but if you can afford it i would get a g3 because you will probably upgrade like everyone else in the world and your 75g in the meantime will be in better condition

It really depends. If sound and/or electricity consumption is not an issue, I would be tempted to go with a beckett skimmer and choose the MRC skimmer. BTW, the MRC doesn't require a huge pump if the model you are eying is the MR1.

The Lifereef is definitely my next favorite. Awesome construction, skimms well. I have used them on a larger tank than yours with great results.

The ASM, depending on model you choose, is also a great skimmer. I'm not crazy about their construction at all nor am I impressed with the smaller 1 and 2 models. A G3 would be great I'd think.

I have heard good reviews about the Coralife skimmer. Go with the largest model, the 220, and make sure you get the needle wheel version rather than the venturi. There are some great venturi skimmers out there, the Lifereef is a good example of one, but the Coralife venturi skimmer is underpowered.

I don't know anything about Top Fathom skimmers other than that they are venturi skimmers with a cheap price tag. Maybe somebody else that has actually used one, chime in here.

I had a Trigger Systems TS-300 Beckett style and loved it.

I used to run a lifereef, and the ASM G3 produces in a day what my lifereef took a week to skim. It is also much less sensitive to feeding and arms in the tank...The foam head only collapses for mabey an hour compared to 7-8 hours with the lifereef. Get the G3, you will love it.

AquaC Remora Pro (or Urchin Pro for insump). My regular Urchin is an awesome skimmer.

Read this:

A FO aquarium can benefit greatly from whatever skimmer you choose to go with.

Where is EuroReef? They also make a great skimmer for that size tank. I just bought a CS5-3 for my 75g.

I just bought the G-3 that replaced my CCS220. We shall see what happens. The G-3 will be at my door step tomorrow. =)

Yet same performance. It is however one's money as to do with it what one will.

To me there is little importance between the actual acrylic material used for the skimmer.

With a sump asm g3. without a sump Turbofloater multi.

All I can say dhnguyen is that the G2 I saw in action did not impress me by the major leaks it had at the seals. I bought a ER for the same money the G2 was going to cost me sooo I didn't have to spend any more cash to get a better constructed skimmer vs a lesser quality made knock off.

I think everyone is in agreement that a asm g3 or larger is the way to go.

I'm starting to think that way too after seeing your other thread. Very impressive especially given the price tag.

Well, we will see after a few days. I'll keep an eye on my orp, if stays within 50 mv I will be happy. I got rid of a pump switching to this one and will save some money on the electricity bill! It also takes up less space than my beckett skimmer. My sump looks kinda empty. :)

Deltec top performing skimmer hands down.

Here is a pic of my nasty nog a weeks worth on my deltec mce600 hangon. Pricey but the money i spent on worthless skimmers its worth every penny.
