early monring wake up

House smoke alarm woke us up early Saturday morning. Smoke in the basement with 2' flames coming off a tank light fixture. I unplugged several plugs and put out the fire by dipping the fixture in a bucket of water. Good thing I have those lying around. Turns out I didn't unplug the fixture before dropping it in the bucket of water.

Like a true aquaist you dropped the flaming debris into a bucket of water you had laying around not in the conveniently located fish tank ...

Everything is fine. Thanks for asking. I ended up moving everyone back into my 180 sooner than planned.

Doh! I could have used the tank to put out the fire.

The black soot adds a nice highlight to the cobwebs on the basement beams.

Looking back I wish I had put shoes on before fighting the fire and I wish I had pulled all the plugs not just some of them.

Later my wife did ask if it was my wiring that caught fire. Luckily :( for me for me it was a store bought fixture.

Maybe the clownfish's plan to escape?

Light unit was on a timer. Timer still works. Unit was bout 4 years old. Bulbs were about 1 year old. I checked out the unit several months ago before putting it on the tank and it appeared to be in good condition. If it wasn't I wouldn't have used it. Who knows what was going on inside the case.
