It seems to be dropping instead of increasing.I am on my third bottle of MG...trying to get into a good range.
Reading was 870 this morning.
last time it was 960
Alk~3.43
CA~450

What am I doing wrong?
Corals seem to be loving it,and busting out new branches like crazy!

What supplement? What amount? What kit?

It can take a lot of magnesium supplement to boost levels, likely more than you expect This calculator shows how much:

Don't know if this will help but my alk was 2.5 meg/l and Cal-460, mag was at 1280. I added 40ML of Kent tech-M and it went to 1305 waited a day added 80ML and it went to 1330.

I add 60 ml. each of A & B per day, sometimes a bit more alk/ph.It says to be careful not to raise MG more than 100 ppm per day.

I agree that I would not add more than 100 ppm magnesium per day, but according to the calculator, 20 mL per day of Oceans Blend is only 10 ppm magnesium per day in a 100 gallon tank.

One more question if I may...
I have been told by the manufacturer of OB that once I get my MG within range 1200-1500,that my A&B will maintain it.Your thoughts?Also..1200-1500 is quite a range, what's best?
If it helps to know,I use Tropic Marin Pro salt mix.;) One more note to add, this is a 75 gal tank with 20 sump, and 29 refugium,so 100 gal. is estimated total volume of water.
Thanks again,Carole

It might. In theory one can make one that does. I'm not sure exactly how much magnesium is in OB, however. :)

I suggest that folks target 1250-1350 ppm magnesium, but being a bit higher is likely OK.

Yes, the Part 1 (Calcium) of the two part OB supplement contains Magnesium in an amount estimated to maintain a normal consumption. Although your consumption may not be the one of an average aquarium, it will help to maintain the level.
