Do you guys just throw it in the tank or do you let it thaw first in a bowl? I thaw mine in tank water first(in a bowl), then throw it in the tank. Just curious...

for fish feeding I just throw it in. for coral feeding I let it thaw in a small bowl filled with tank water and then use a baster to target feed.

we let it thaw about 1/2 way so there is some larger chunks. you are right use tank water not tap to thaw. we use small dixie cups.

I'll continue what I've been doing then. I just use a small rubbermaid container that's been rinsed out. Thanks all!

Ok I am going to sound stupid but I never thought to use tank water to thaw the frozen food I used tap water all the time. What an idiot I am. But to answer you question I thaw the cube out alll the way and then dump it in.

Frozen. Sometime I'll let big frozen chunks (of scallops, salmon etc.) thaw a bit in their tupperware container on the kitchen counter top.

I do both. Three times a week or more I place fozen and even some flake food in a small tupperware bowl. Then I add some Selcon and Vita-Chem or Koralin Amino Life as nutritional supplements for both fish and coral. Then I let soak with a small amount of water for about 15 min. And voila...dinner is served.

So let me understand You can just drop the FROZEN Cube in the tank and it does not hurt anything

Sometimes I thaw the cube and rinse (with RO water) to remove the juice. Other times, I drop the cube in. Most of the fish pick tidbits of loose food off the frozen cube. They don't seem to be bothered by the cold.

Yep. I wouldn't do this in a 5 gallon nano, though. :p

Thaw in the refrigerator. Also consider making your own frozen food sans preservatives.

I thaw my frozen in tank water then stir it up and feed away. I also spot feed DT's oyster eggs in the evening after the halides have gone out but before the actinics turn off. Corals seem to respond great to the eggs. Polyp extension is Hugh
