I just set a quarantine tank about 2-4weeks so far. I'm having some trouble clearing up the water. It's not that it is dirty, I believe it looks the Prizm produce too much Micro bubble. I read the manual and it tells me turn down the flow regulator,if I turn down, how it suppose to suck water to the skimmer well enough? I turn it to the point that the regulater is close. That's the only to stop the micro bubble, but how can that skim well? it's not sucking waste in well, it's now skimming well I believe. Gosh, I'm confuse...

i had a prizm skimmer before and had the dame problem... that is why i sold it!
i spent countless hours fiddling with the same issue, you basically have to turn the flow to almost compltely closed not to have any bubbles, i dont know if i was doing anything wrong but i just got sick of it and sold to someone else

Damn, that's suck then. It's anoying when poeple telling me the tank is dirty and murky when it's not really dirty, the micro bubble is making an effect like it is dirty.... If you close it, then How can it skim well?

I have a prizm but it hangs off of my wet/dry sump. The skimmer empties onto the drip plate, drips into the bio-balls where gas exchange occurs and diffuses any micro bubbles there if there are any.

i used to have a prizum and i used some of the blue marineland filter material in the outlet that the water comes from it breaks up the bubbles and lets you run it open a bit more but you have to change the filter material about once a week cause it clogs and the skimmer would lose its prime. i heard of some mods you could to do them to help them skim better but i can not rember what they are look around i know there are soem out there

I had the same problem
You have to either keep the prizm on long enough with the valve just near fully open. That way it gives it time for the foam to build up in the neck and when it starts to go into the cup the micro bubbles should decline from your tank or you can grow a load of hair algea on the end of the outlet couse it diffuses the bubbles. Ive tried both but if you combine them the prizm actually works. Oh and lenthen the air tube, it vreates less noise.
no i had a reg prizum i just put it in the outlet hole

Well, I tone it down near closing the regulator, that got it to stop the bubble a little. I try open the regulator slowly by daily, meaning I turn a little bit a day. Now I seem fine for now...
The only thing I'm concerning is that it might not skimming right. The foam doesn't go up to the cup, it just foam up in the chamber.

First check that there is no moisture in the air tube daily couse i find i get quite a bit when its working. If you want you could buy a pair of tights and put the end of them onto the outlet couse they help dramaticly then you can turn the flow up as much as you want.

I'm sorry but I can't really understand what you're saying. What do you mean by "couse." Also put what tight on what end?

HAHAH HAHAHAH!
I think there is a better idea then that, why I just find out.
Go get a very fine media bag and place it on the outlet. When the micro bubble reaches to the fine mesh of the media bag, the bag collect the bubble as it pops... :mixed:
If you have the Deluxe version or kit like me, place the media bag in the carbon box and it should hold it there much better.

I have the deulux version as well and myne runs carbon in a fine media bag and believe me it doesent stop them. At the moment the best way ive ever had it is the hair algea on the end of the outlet. Only a few ever come out.
I hated my Prizm Deluxe until a retail er told me how to dial it in (I had called her to buy a new skimmer and when I told her why, she said there is nothing wrong with the Prizm if you use it right - honest lady, she could have sold me a skimmer and I never would have known better).
Here's what she told me....
If you're getting excessive micro bubbles, close the valve all the way - leave it in that position for 1 - 2 days, then gradually (ove the next 1 - 2 days) slowly open the valve to the point you are getting foam and no bubbles.
Worked for me and I have been pleased with the prizm ever since. Good luck with this - hope this works out for you as well.
