I'm wondering if emerald crabs are safe for a refugium.. will they prey on my pods? i have some bubble algea in there that i wanna get out....

I have had good luck with Emeralds eating bubble algae, but many others have tried with no luck. That being said, I think you have a 50% chance of them eating the algae.

As far as the pods are concerned, crabs are omnivores and will eat just about anything they can get their claws on. So, yes they might eat your pob population.

Is there anyway to manually remove the bubble algae? Do you really need to remove it?

Just some questions for you to ponder.

If its a refugium, aren't you trying to grow two things: pods and algea for them to live in? In that case, let the algea grow. I love emerald crabs, but they would eat pods and maybe the algea. Just let the algea grow, and put the crabs in the main tank.
