I currently have this hang on filter from Amiracle on my 55g FOWLR.

I was thinking about making it into a small refugium, with a DSB and some LR. Would this be too heavy of a load to hang on the back of my tank?? Thanks.

Nah, it shouldn't be too heavy. You're probably looking at @ 5 lbs. LR & @ 10 lbs. LS for that size hang-on sump. I'm assuming you'll have NO lighting on maybe 24 hrs. a day on the refugium? Some reefers leave it on 24/7, others have it on a timer like their main display tank. Just a thought.
