MH 250w Bulb & 175w Ballast ???

Is there any harm in running a 250 SE MH on a 175 w magnetic ballast?

If there is harm what is it too?

Or will the bulb just never warm up properly?

I know this sounds ghetto just got curious as to the answer when messing around with some lighting.

Its probably not a good idea. It is best to match the ballast with the bulb in terms of wattage. You could probably ask one of the techs at universal ballast (800-ballast)
