Hi,

I have a 29g tank and I have noticed the the silcone seal on on side is starting to come loose. It's kind of hard to decribe. The section is about two inches and half way down the tank. The glue has come loose about half way to the corner. Does anyone understand that description. Well I was wondering if i should replace the tanks, or if it would be ok. I'd rather buy a tank now for 50$ then to loose every thing.

Thanks,
Derek

Here is a picture. This is halfway down, and the silicone is almost loose all the way to the corner.

just for the peace of mind I would replace the tank.

My 125 has a lot of the silicone on the inside thread missing from scraping the glass and (knock on wood) has not had any problems. I don't think that that part of the silicone has much to do with the structural integrity of the tank itself, it's more the silicone in between the glass that you need to worry about. As long as you have a bead going down the inside of the joint, you should be fine. However, since it's only a 29 gallon tank, probably wouldn't cost more than $30 to replace it, so why not.

like davelin315 said. what actually matters is the silicone between the two pieces of glass.
