I have had this mushroom leather for quit a while and Im going to sew it to a rock but are they supposed to stand up on there own or do they have to lean against something? Right now as you can see the stem part is in a hole in the live rock, I would like to attatch it to a flat rock so it can stand up on it own, is that possible?

Both my "leather" and my "toadstool leather" stand up on their own quite well... but they are both attached. I think that sewing them to a rock simply ensures that they remain motionless while they have time to attach... if nothing is touching or bothering them, they should be able to attach on their own with enough time.....

No idea. Perhaps you have a variety with smaller polyps... The polyps on mine retract completely when my metal halide lights turn off.. perhaps yours would like more light? I like to watch mine eat zooplankton, though... each little finger folds into the mouth as it snags a bug....

ok thanks so I just put some fishing line in a needle, got through the base a few times and sew it to a rock?

That's what I've heard, but I've never done it myself. Hopefully somebody else will chime in....

Plastic toothpicks also work. I simply use small rocks to keep the toadstool where I want it until it attaches

If there is any movement, fishing line will work it's way right thru the coral & tear loose

Aright I just tried the fishing line thing  I pulled it a little to tight and it ripped through. So I got an elastic and put it around the base attaching it to a rock. Do you think that will work? See the leather in the lower right hand corner? Do you think that will work?

I think it'll probably do just fine bound that way. After it attaches to the rock, you can try to cut the rubber band away. Nice looking tank!!
