Today i was just walking through my lfs looking through the tanks (not planning) on buying anything when I stumbled upon avery pecular fish. I almost passed it off as an ordinary sixline wrasse, but then I looked closer. It was definitely not a sixline wrasse. Surely my eyes were deceiving me.
I turned out that they weren't. The fish was actually what is called a pinstripe pygmy wrasse. A fish that is almost never collected. Upon doing a search for it I could only pull up one website (one that I already knew about, this is what originally sparked my attention to the fish) that even had the fish pictured. The scientific name is Pseudocheilnops ataenia. I am positive this fish came in by accident.
So I bought the fish knowing what I was getting myself into (I had done some searching on the fish on a completely seperate occasion). The only link I have of the fish is from the marine center. They had this fish available at one time. He was sold to me as a sixline wrasse for 24.95.
heres the link:
