My tank will be 5 yrs. by the end of this year. I had a FOWLR the first year and then, converted it to a reef ever since.

I used to run two NO bulbs (6700K & Actinic), a Sea Clone skimmer & a 1.5" sand bed on a 30 gal w/ 30 lbs. LR (FL/Atlantic), 3 fishes (False Perc, Domino Damsel & Scooter Blenny), 2 shrimps (Fire & Cleaner), 5 snails (Turbo & Astraea) & a Hawaiian Feather Duster.

Yrs. later, I have PC 2x55w (10,000K & Actinic), an AquaC Remora skimmer, 4" DSB w/ 33 lbs LR (Marshall Is., Fiji & Indo.), 2 fishes (False Perc & Royal Gramma), 20 snails (Margarita, Astraea, Cerith & Nerite) & @ 10 corals/frags (LPS & Soft).

W/ the upgraded lighting, no shrimps to steal food from my LPS's, implementing bi-weekly Phyto-feeding along w/ frozen & flakes & using less additives (water changes, alk/Ca, Iodine & Strontium only), my tank has improved and it has never been healthier. W/ yrs. of exp. and using/researching different products/equipment, I try to stay as simple as possible and use less supplements. It's been working for me ever since.

mcbaes72,

How big is your tank? I was looking into some similar inhabitants for my 28 gal and was planning on buying a similar lighting setup.

LOL! :lmao: Okay, I hope you have a good nap.

Now, if you can, go w/ PC's 4x55w would be nice. Otherwise, 2x55w is already good enough. A lot of people say that 6700K bulbs have too yellow a tint to it. So, go for 10,000K & Actinic and it should show off your fish/inverts/corals well.

Thanks for the help. I think ill go with the 2x55 because i dont think the 4x55 will fit over the opening of my tank. The 10,000K and the actinic look good also. Thanks again!
