My opinion, but here goes. Purchased 125g super skimmer for my system last week. Mounted it in the sump. Total water is 105g. I was running 2 CPR bakpaks. Instructions stated to break in the skimmer for 24-48hrs at a certain water level in the neck. After 24 hrs at the break in level, it had pulled out more skimate than both bakpaks combined!(I was still running the bakpaks)(the bakpaks were not doing a very good job previously, which prompted me to look into a new skimmer) Now, after about a week, it is pulling out 1/4 cup(the cup I am talking about here is the collection cup) a day of dark, dry skimate. The only disadvantage is that the water level dial is very high strung. But once you get it set, it stays there.
Needless to say, I am very pleased, and for $139, I think it is a steal!

I got mine for 119 at www.bigalsonline.com . Mine had a leaky collection cup, but a bead of superglue around the seam at the bottom fixed that. It will also flood the collection cup if you have any backpressure on output so be careful if using as a hangon. but otherwise I realy like it.

You might want to consider and auto top off system for your sump, they work alot better if you maintain a constant level.
You will get a dryer skim if you clean the cup everyday, opposed to ever week.
There are 3 sizes at the store I frequent.

I too have a Coralife super skimmer. Last night, during my monthly maintenance I found something I do not like and I'm wondering if it is an isolated thing or not. I'm asking all of you that have been using a Coralife super skimmer for at least 3 months to check the following: Pop off the cover on the back of the pump and check to see if there is a metal tab sticking out of the epoxy. If so check to see if it is rusting. Mine is rusting badly where the tab makes the 90 degree bend up. But just at the bend, the rest of the tab looks good. I'll try to post a picture hopefully tonight in my gallery. I'm also trying to find Coralife's number to quiz them on this. Anyone know the number to call?
Also rusting metal has to be a bad thing, right?

Letmegrow, I am so glad you mentioned cleaning the collection cup frequently. I wasn't getting very dry skimmate until I did just that. Now I can lower the water flow greatly and get some nice dry bubbles to flow over. I guess there's too much friction when that junk is in the cup.
gbecker, I've read before that rust shouldn't hurt anything. But it's not exactly something I'd try to add to the tank. Somebody mentioned that there are some very nice reefs located on and around shipwrecks that don't seem to be struggling at all.
