If i already have a female lyretail... this is for a 55 gallon tank. Its going to have a maroon in there so 3 fish total

It depends on the fish some are just nasty....

Anthias can be tempermental, amd in a 55 there isn't alot of room to escape. I think in time the male would start harrassing the female. IMO anthias should be kept singlely, or better yet in aggregations like in the wild with room to swim and spread the aggression.

I bought a male and 3 female lyretails for my 150. the male killed off 2 of the females and is now down to just one. he is just a mean fish in general. so i would be careful adding one. esp. in a 55 gal.

Pufferskick is a good example of what I was saying. These fish really need room and lots of fish to school with. Heck I have close to 45 anthias of various species and they still get hostile once in awhile to each other. Stick with one or add more when your tank size increases.

I only keep one male and no other anthias in my 90 for that reason.....he's a beauty, but aggressive......

Since you have just one over time you will get a male. Since no male is present the change has probably already begun.
