I am looking for 2 5.5 gal tanks 16x8x10 to start a culturing Rotifers, and Copepods.
While my main tank is cycling.
So that leads me to my next WTB
Does any one local have a copepod or Rotifer culture up and running where I might be able to buy a start for mine?
Thanks
Todd

I've got rotifers and nannochloropsis.
Ya don't need a tank for rotifers. I use gallon plastic milk jugs, and sometimes I use a 5 gallon salt bucket (minus the salt). You need a cheap air pump, some rigid and some flexible airline tubing, gang valves, water salt and bleach and dechlorinator. A drill to put a hole in the cap if you are using jugs.
For phyto you need 2 L soda bottles, a small cheap air pump, some rigid and some flexible airline tubing, gang valves, water salt and bleach and dechlorinator, a drill for cap holes, water, salt and bleach, and dechlorinator, and you need lights. Shop lights are fine. Windowsills work too.
Pm me if you are interested in rots or nanno. Right now I've got lots of rots, but in a while, I'll have a hatch of clownfish eggs, and then I can't spare the rots.
Cheers,
Kathy

Thanks Kathy,
I want to grow them in the 5.5 because that will fit behind my show tank nicely. I am wanting to do a continues culture, by using a power head to put a cup of tank water in it (a few times a day) and over flow the culture out. Then once a day I would add Nano to keep the water green. By using the 5.5 gals I can drill the side and put in a ½ inch bulkhead to achieve the overflow. Anthony Calfo was saying that is what he did with his tanks but I think he only did copepods. I figure the more I can make it like the real ocean the better. I am going to try to build the stand today but I am not sure when I will be ready for the starts. If you don’t mind I will buzz you when I am ready and it it works out it works out if not then it is ok too.
Thanks
Todd
